OK thanks. I use 5w30 mobil 1. I'm starting to wonder if the fresh synthetic kicked up a bunch of crud that clogged the filter.

I have both Mobil 1 0w30 and 5w30HM ready for when I switch... Definately one of the good ones to use...

How many miles was on your oil? Which fram filter number were you using?

As long as you weren't using the PH3614, which is the one I used but should only be used with conventional... TG3614 Can be used with both syn & conventional oils up to I believe 10k miles... Then there is the ultra syn XG3614 for up to 15k miles and a high mileage HM3614 which a don't know if ok to use with syn.. Either way if it caused you problems don't use the same one again

The saga continues. The rattle noise from under the front valve cover is gradually making a come-back. Still no CEL's though.

I quickly recorded two more videos this morning, one on
and one after the
. I am concerned that oil may not be getting properly thrown up to the valves on start-up. Does this sound like a possible contributor?

Given that changing the oil filter helped, I decided to check the OCV filters to see if they were plugged / damaged. Clean as a whistle, though.

I am therefore considering changing the OCV's themselves. Thoughts / other recommendations?

Thanks, Jacob

Since you mentioned rough idle, it could be the OCV soleniods not getting oil to the heads, resulting in knocking. I just replaced both of mine and cleaned the tiny oil filters next to them and the knocking clicking sound is gone. This fixed my rough idle that was shaking the car, especially when at a stop in gear.
