Default Hands down- which is best tire currently?

There have been many tires mentioned here over the years. The Mich CT seems to get many good ratings but this is an older tire. Is there another tire in the OEM size that is getting good recommendatioins. I am sick and tired of the Integrity's. and need new rubber next week before going on vacation. Ride quality and low noise levels are of particular interest to me. Thanks for an update on what seems like an old subject.

Default Oh yea- why would I want to move up in tire size?

Seems like then I would have to buy 5 tires as my spare would no longer be usable. Do the benefits warrant the extra cost in your olpinion?

Default Consider the X-Terrains

They aren't old - only 2 1/2 years. I had them on our '99 and they were wonderful. Absolutely no regrets.

I have heard good things about the Pirelli Scorpions, especially if you go off-road a bit

Why would you think your spare isn't usable?

How amy people really buy a spare that matches their other tires.....a lot less than 1%. I don't think having the Goodyear Integrity as the spare for Michelins or some other brand is a problem. You simply get the new tire fixed and place the spare back in the vehicle. For a short time period and keeping the vehicle at a reasonable speed, I don't think it would be a problem. There are probably hundreds of thousands of vehicles out on the roads that have an odd tire tread on one of their rims and they probably drive like that continuosly...even though it isn't recommended and can be dangerous under certain circumstances. Think of your Goodyear spare as one of those temporary balloon tires...
