I was told by our salesman that the passenger seat has sensors that can recognize if someone is sitting on it. If the seat has someone greater than 60 lbs.??? the airbag will be active. If less than 60 the airbag will be turn off.

yes, the airbag light is normal. it's actually quite neat. my 90-lb 11-year-old cousin was sitting up front while i was driving, and his weight triggered the light to come on so that in the event of a head on collision, the passenger side airbag would not deploy. i don't know what the weight cutoff is, but it's nice to know that the airbag won't kill your passengers if they are too small. very smart! (although 90 lbs seems like it would be sufficient for airbag deployment)
