Default is it dead?

My 2001 RX 300 with 220k miles motor just died. A piston is banging on the wall? Does it make any sense to replace the motor?

Depends on a few things. Do you feel like spending more $ on it? If you do, and go with a used engine, you're looking at around $1500-$2000 for a used junk yard engine. Or about $800-1000 for a used JDM engine. Plus either your time, or paying for somebody else's to do it. Also, what shape is the rest of the car in? If it is in good shape otherwise, might not be a bad idea to put another engine in it.

Same thing Im dealing with,The rest of the car is in great shape so im going with the fix the broken connecting rod (install a rebuild kit) or install a used engine...I need to do some more research to decide.
