Default Buying a 2000 rx300

So I'm being given an opportunity to get a 2000 RX300 from a friend for a really good price. They have title in hand but the keys have been lost. It was parked when it through a Cadillac converter code and was running a little rough. After doing some research on this form it seems that the Cadillac can cause issues if it gets completely clogged. If I purchase it I would need to get the keys replaced. There is no master key or valet key to copy from and would need to get it issued via VIN number. My question is pending no issues with the engine or transmission and only the Cadillac converter that was known how much is it going to cost me to at least see where I'm at in this vehicle. I live in a county where emissions are not necessary so can I just cut it out and put a straight pipe? Are there other things I should be looking for that could be potential big money gotchas with this vehicle?

Yikes! Between new keys and computer and a cadilliac, they should pay you to take it.

LOL. Cadillac is a car brand. Catalytic convertor is a part of the exhaust. Just call it a CAT and we will know what you mean.

So in order to get keys for it I'll have to buy a new computer? Yeah that was a mess up on the catalytic converter it was voice to text and I didn't catch it

So I did it I bought a 2000 RX300 and it's been sitting for about 18 months had brand new tires on it when parked. My locksmith got the keys cut and synced was quite a thing to watch .

seems to run fine. Looking to get a couple things done as preventive maintenance. Going to take to my mechanic friend to get the timing belt water pump done what kits have you guys used and should I go ahead and do the cam seals at the same time? As 165000 miles are on the odometer and I don't know when that maintenance was last done. Have noticed a slight chirp or wine in the power steering, May fix it when I flush it maybe has more to it than that.

since getting two master keys made. I bought a key with the fob in it. I was able to program it to work as far as starting the car but can't get the lock unlock button to work any ideas tried the programming stuff like a dozen times.
