1999 RX300 Engine Swap
Can someone help please. Im having problems since i had the engine swapped out. I used to absolutely love my Lexus unfortunately I blew the engine in it due to an oil leak. . Since I got my car back Im extremely disappointed, I expected it to drive the same or better, but its not meeting my expectations. It has no power, it just doesn't feel anything like my car. Its kinda shaky and it feels like things don't fit right if that makes any sense. I don't know to much about cars so I don't know if the mechanic is being honest with me he is claiming the engine is that of a 2006 . Does this sound right? Is it possible it might have a different engine?

If the mechanic bought the engine then it is his responsibility to give you an engine in good running condition. He has to eat his labor cost and exchange the engine once again.
If you brought/bought the engine then you owe him labor irrespective of the engine being good or bad.
Used engines should be bought with warranty [usually the seller exchanges the engine or takes it back]. The mechanic who replaces the engine works with the seller if problems show up after the installation.
When you agreed for an engine swap, did the mechanic give you any warranty?
Does the mechanic agree that there is a problem?

I bought my 99
With a terribly knocking engine. I replaced it with a jdm. This is one of the smoothest running engines I've ever ran. I'd do research, get the engine seriel number. You can figure out then, when it was manufactured. Can see if that year is compatible with your car.
also, was it a garage or a diy, who installed the engine? If garage, then take it back, see if theyll make it right. If a diy guy, well, I'd try to get him to make it right, hopefully he's honest. Maybe something simple, any check engine lights?
Take off the top plastic cover, look and make sure all wired connections are firmly seated, all vacuum tubes are where they need to be. There's SO many things involved in an engine swap out. One cracked vacuum line, broken sensor, or wire, can cause problems.
good luck!
just doing some googling, the 06 rx330 has a 3mz-fe. The 99 uses 1mz-fe. If he did install an 06 engine, then that could for sure be a problem. Thus opens up a whole mess of problems, different ecm's, different sensors, different wiring etc.
