Auto zone in South TX says they r not carrying castrol 0w30 European formula oil anymore. They have the 5w30 5quarts with oil filter at a great price $27. I have been using the 0w30 since I got the rx300 in 2008@50k miles on it. Now it has 198k miles on it. Can I switch to 5w30 or will it cause porblems? Temperatures hardly go below 40 here at night and we park it out at night and not in the garage. Amazon has the 6case 0w30 at $64. It's getting expensive. Thank you for your valuable suggestions.

No problems changing to the 5W-30. In fact Lexus has a chart that shows 0W-20, 5W-20, and 5W-30 are all recommended for the RX300. Not sure why 0W-30 is not listed as well.
I have run the Castrol 0W-40 Euro in my RX for multiple oil changes. It is at Amazon right now at $26 for 5 Qts and been around that price for a long time.

This comes from the advice of my mechanic. The 0w oils are developed for gas mileage purposes and the 5W would make no difference.
I drive my vehicles hard and have always run a heavier oil and have driven all over 200K easily. The most important part of oil change is the correct frequency.
