Default brakes

my 2003 rs 300 brake pedal will occasionally will push back. If I release the brake and reapply its just fine

How is the normal pedal .. does it sink ... when you apply brakes the first time (engine running) can you stick your left toe underneath the applied brake pedal?

Who ABS kicks in you should be feeling a push back and that would be normal ,,, but then ABS must be activated.

Also hoe long has it been since you flushed the brake fluid [32K miles or every 3rd year]

You have to teach yourself to drive with ABS if you have brake fade then you have issues but it it is actually pulling up with one press of pedal all is good. It is instinct to want to add more fluid as a driver but you have to learn to trust the brakes.
One thing the ABS doesn't like is U turns i have had it clapping on and off when pulling a full U-turn and can be a little scarey as not like stopping like that.
