hi i just bought a 1999 RX300 Nov. 16,2017. the transmission fluid was black i had the transmission fluid change Nov.28 2017 i noticed it had a shift problem once then another one Jan. 29 2018 it completely goes bad i can't drive over 25 mph and it won't go in reverse.
Is the car a total lost? the car is only worth 3500. should i try to fix it? BTW I had a 150 point inspection done to avoid buying a lemon looks like i got duked :[
Any advice would be appreciated ;].

There is a procedure to gradually drain and refill the transmission fluid. This gradual process is much easier on the transmission over a power flush and if it isn't to neglected there may be life left. You'll drain off 2 quarts, replace, drive then do this routine each week until the fluid comes out bright red. If after a few weeks the conditions do not show any improvement then you'll have to decide what you want to do to the car if a transmission rebuild-swap is practical. If the car is otherwise in good condition and you like it, then you'll be able to decide. For about $65 worth of fluid and if you can DIY or have someone help, this isn't a high cost test to determine.
