Question OEM DENSO 89615-12090 Knock Sensors from eBay?

Hello all, of course I'm now getting the check engine light code P0330 for knock sensors.

I can't believe these little knock sensors cost $160.00 for OEM from online toyota dealers! This part is not that highly engineered with internal parts.

I know that there are two manufacturers for this 89615-12090:

"Toyota uses TWO (2) Manufactures for this same part depending where your car was made. Cars equipped with the Denso Brand Sensor Seldom fails compared to the cars that came equipped with the Matsu****a a Brand. Master Toyota Techs request this DENSO brand over the Matsu****a Brand. Both work, both are Genuine to Toyota. So if you want the Best Genuine Sensor for this application, This DENSO Sensor is the Choice of Master Toyota Techs."

I'm just wondering if I should try one of these OEM DENSO knock sensors being sold by the pair on eBay?

Please read through he DIY.

The labor outweighs the cost of the sensors.

I would strongly suggest to stay away from any potential sub-par product. My understanding is that you need to take the vin to the dealer to get the proper sensor for your vehicle.

Read everything relating to code P0330. But nothing about all these eBay listings about OEM Toyota DENSO knock sensors. I'm thinking for this price they must be a CHINA copy (sure look like the OEM). Cheapest authorized Toyota dealer I'v found for the 89615-12090 Knock Sensors are $119.00.

Also there are intake gaskets .. which I suggest be replaced.

Mark each hose, as one member attached coolant line to the vacuum line.

About a year ago I purchased the same part # ‘Denso’ knock sensors off eBay from a seller that used the exact language in their listing that the original poster referenced. (Although the seller was different)

I was still uneasy about their authenticity though so after they came in I compared to one at the dealership and sure enough there were some noticeable differences. I’m pretty sure the ones I purchased off of eBay were counterfeit so I returned them.

Yeah, this is what I'm thinking. Not "OEM DENSO". They must be a cheap copy since all authorized toyota/lexus dealers are selling them for no less than $115 each.

Still, I find it ridiculous that this cheaply made part even when compared to an OEM oxygen sensor is so pricey.

It has been a while so I cant confirm. The only thing that stands out is the knock sensor part number is vin based. Please look up the DIY and add in there to keep that thread updated.
