Default Rear end swaying left & right

I have a bad rear end sway to the left on acceleration and bad sway to the right on deceleration. I jacked the car up with both rear wheels off the ground and pushed the suspension round and it all seems tight. I also get a thunking sound from the passenger side rear when going over pot holes...

I have 240K Mi on this 2000 RX and would like to keep it another year. Anyone run across this?

Well, not sure what "sway to a side" is in your terminology.

move or cause to move slowly or rhythmically backward and forward or from side to side.
So which one is it? If your rear end, well, your car, moves side to side and sort of up and down same time, at acceleration, it's out of round tire. OFRT also explains thumping noise.
If it PULLS to the side, you have sticky caliper on the R side. Or, stabilizer bar/bushings are bad. "tugging" on things of that nature does not help, it takes LONG pry bar and some effort to move them. Unless they are totally toast.
If it LEANS towards one side, either shock is bad or sway bar link.
Thumping going over pot holes and speed bumps points towards bad sway bar bushings.

Simple things you can do are:

Examine visually for problem with the tires
Swap wheels front to back.

Take the RX to suspension shop. They have the means to test out the suspension.

The "thunking" can be caused by worn stabilizer links. Even though the video is a Camry, they share a similar design to a Lexus.

you probably have a dead strut. If you have the means and tools, drop the suspected side out, remove the spring and see if you can compress the strut easily by hand. visually you can check for any signs of oil leakage on the the strut bodies.

Our 1999 Camry Solara had the same symptom of steering to the right when accelerating
and swinging to the left when coasting or braking. Turned out to be the right rear wheel
alignment was toed in a degree or two. Accelerating would load the tire and "steer" the car,
braking would unload the rear and she would swing back. No noises ever but it needed
and alignment every 10-15 thousand miles till we sold her at 70k miles.

Default Trailing links

OK, just got back from the garage and I need new rear trail links and control arms. Thanks to all that helped out.
