Default Exhaust leak in center pipe in front of muffler diagnose by dealer

02 rx300 with CEL & VSC on. If not repaired, will this cause damage to the engine? The dealer says it will cost $2600 to replace the exhaust pipe.

Go to an exhaust shop and do not discuss what the dealer told you.

Walker is a company that makes portion of exhaust. You can check their prices and see how much labor will be charged by the exhaust shop.

Be careful if you have to replace any of the catalytic converters.

If it's as simple as a crack/hole in one of the pipes, a local muffler shop can fix it quickly usually for under $50.

Driving with an exhaust leak is okay short term as long as there isn't wiring or anything nearby that could potentially melt from the escaping exhaust.
