Default Front License Plate Install

I need to install the front license plate on my 2000 rx300. Bought the car from my brother who never installed it. I have the bracket, but not the screws. I found out they are 6m size, but do they need to be self tapping screws? I’ll need to drill through the two dimples in the front bumper. Anyone put theirs on?
Thanks
Ez

There are supposed to be threaded nuts inside the bumper. I attached a front tag to my RX300, but the 6mm threaded nuts were not there when I drilled into the bumper at the dimples. I assume they were damaged/removed during repairs of a front end accident by the previous owner. I used wall anchors in the bumper holes to attach the bracket and they have worked fine so far.

Check the online store like Lexus of Atlanta for part picture.

I think you need a bracket which gets mounted to the bumper and then the License plate gets screwed on to the bracket. The holes on the bumper are spaced to a different spacing than the license plate. Makes sure the length of the screws to attach the license plate to the bracket is short. If you buy long screws, they will mar the bumper paint/finish. Also add split washer to each screw [bracket to bumper & plate to bracket].

I would recommend going to a salvage yard. LKQ maybe a good source.

I recently bought a small chrome nudge bar licence plate holder I had planned to put it on but changed my front bar so need to modify it to use it now as different shape but really liked the idea of it on the stock bar.

I have the Jaos nudge bar to nudge the 'roos [as some one suggested]. Welcome to pick it from, my home

Thanks, do you remember what size drill bit you used to drill through the dimples?

I started with a small hole, and then drilled a larger one, but couldn't feel the nut with the bit, which was much longer than the 6mm x 30mm length screw I had. I wasn't sure at the time what was going on. I eventually drilled a hole wide enough to accept the 6mm dia screw, but couldn't see either nut inside the bumper. I then pressed wall anchors into the holes and attached the bracket with screws. I can't remember what size those screws were.

I can't find them either. I drilled carefully at the dimples. I have seen conflicting information on the web on this. Can anyone clear this up for me? I bought the Lexus license plate bracket, and I would like to properly install it. Thanks so much

The dimples mark where to center the self tapping screw but there is no backing nut.
The screw just bores a hole in the bumper cover and it's on. Add the plate, decorative
frame if desired, toll way transponder, polarized plate cover and you're good to go.
