I have a following issue.
From time to time I got no sound at all in my car.
There is no real pattern to this.... It does not seem like it is a wiring (connection) problem as it does not show up on bumps, etc...
Most of the time when it is really hot it can stop working (the radio, whole unit seems OK) but there is just no sound.
hen I go into "Sound" setting MID tone correction is gone and "dot" for balance...
Sometimes after 5 min sometimes after 1h everything goes back to normal.... and it OK for next few days....
On the other hand sometimes it can happen few times in a rowe in 1 day...
Thought this might be amplifier... goe a "new" one from auction site - same thing, nothing changed.
One more thing... maybe it will give you a clue where to look for a problem? - right before the sound dies I can hear radio/cd.... but volume does not work... so it is on one level...
This is how it looks like on the screen when the sound is gone...
Looks like it may have been cracked i haven't ever seen this. Not the average problem i would suggest new head unit as cannot see anyway of undoing this but has anyone else seen this screen?
Forgot to say, radio unit is "new" too. When this happens first I thought it was radio unit. Got another one form auction site...
Problem was not resolved...
Second to change was amplifier. Still.... nothing has changed.
Issue must be somewhere in the wiring between radio and amplifier, but as i have no clue which "cable/connection" might give such resut (form time to time) it is next to impossible to locate it.... :-(
Luckily, those were not that expensive... Still, problem remains. And sice climate controls & screen are integrated with radio and panel not much else I can do.... :-(
Any hints, which connections might be responsible and give such effect? My guess is, it is somewhere between amplifier and radio unit... But where?
Knowing which wire/wires might give this kind of effect would be very helpful.
Just adding things that you may not have though off.
Mute
Serial communication [Lexus uses this to connect various audio sources]
Alternator .. couple diodes if shot, produces more spiky dc voltage. [check the sound with engine not running ACC position ... argh! those intermittent problems are hard to pin down]
