Default 2001 lexus rx300

got a p0141 code.
replaced both o2 sensors.

check engine light comes back ON.

I drive and clear codes; after a few times, the check engine light does not come back on.

next day, the check engine light comes back on.

would you know how many o2 sensors are on a 2001 lexus rx300?

Thank you.

Pasted by Salim ...
Which ones have you replaced?
When we were shopping for our 99 RX, 90% of used cars we saw had O2 sensor issue and 100% of them it was one in bank 2, one that is right in your face when you open hood. Even one we bought, ended with that sensor replacement few years down the road.
.. End Paste

Not sure what's up with this site and why I can't edit it to remove all the text.
Salim? ....edit .. best I could do was delete your post and insert the useful text up here ,,,,, Salim

You likely replaced the Air/Fuel Sensors.

You need this one: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...sor-2-diy.html

Thank you.

after i clear the code several times while driving, the check engine light does not come back.
The next morning it comes back.

I heard i have to drive it more than 100 miles, then the check engine light can be cleared permanently.

Does anyone know if this is true?

Check engine light => accumulation of codes and clearing is explained in the sticky 'Having problems start here sticky thread.
ECU constantly reads the condition and after a certain period/cycles creates pending code and then after a more accumulation sets the error code. Vacuum and fuel vapor based codes take longer accumulation period while say the misfires.

Although with age the sensors go out, but every code can not be attributed to a bad sensor. The error code only points to the region.
