What's a good price on a Spotless 2000 RX300 with 77K?
Hello. Lexus noob here. There's a base 2000 RX300 FWD in my area with 77K.
It's really, really, really clean, with a ton of oil change Carfax history.
One owner for 16 years. Second owner wants 6K..seems high to me.
He says the timing belt was done 2K miles ago, tires are a month old
How about that oil sludge problem? I just tread about that today.
Thanks for your input

That's not bad. I've seen rx300s in absolute mint condition used go for 7k and 8k.
But there are better vehicles to get for that price in my opinion.
As for the oil sludge problem, as long as you use a mixed synethic blend or full synethic oil and replace the oil and oil filter every 8k miles, you shouldn't have those problems.
Also, you might want to run 91 octane fuel as it's what's recommended, I've seen RX300s run 87 just fine, so it depends. But for my RX300, running 91 octane fuel makes it much more responsive and i get about 3 more MPG.

My 2000 RX transmission failed and was replaced with a re-manufactured one with '2nd gen' transmission parts in it, said by the repair shop. The engine has been running with no problem. Oil change is almost always regular oil only a few times with synthetic during 18 years. Gas is 99% of time 87. A few times 91 just to compare. No difference I can tell. I have tried on my other few cars between 87 and 91, mpg, idle smoothness, acceleration, etc., no difference.
