Default Door lock actuator

I bought both front door actuators from Amazon. The drivers side was good. The passenger side did not test out ok so I contacted the seller and they sent a replacement but it failed also. I don't what to keep doing this. Does anyone know of a reliable source other than the dealer? I checked at Rock Auto and they only have the drivers side.

There's a thread in the DIY sticky that shows you how to change only the motor, many people end up going that route. You can buy the stuff you need on ebay. I'm assuming you still have the aftermarket passenger actuator motor? If so, you could just break that apart and use the motor from there.

Phil01,

if you crack open one of the bad aftermarket units, put 12V across the two motor leads and see if the motor spins. If so, you can feel confident using that motor to fix the OEM actuator.

I think I will probably do that but how does the casing separate?

Search this forum. A former member described the process in detail. It is not easy but doable. I fixed mine by using a piggy back actuator, also described in detail on this forum. IMO, this is easier and more robust solution.

Use a Dremel/rotary tool, takes like 5 minutes. Some people recommend gluing it back together, but the two screws used to attach it to the assembly hold it just fine; I actually just did my rear door by replacing just the motor. I bought an aftermarket for my driver's door, but after reading problems with them, I decided to just buy the motors and gear pinion puller off ebay; I'd advise everyone to do this instead of going through the headache of finding out which aftermarket ones work. More work, but less headaches in the end.
