Hey guys.
My brother has a preowned 1999 rx300 which recently died and needed to be jumped. We figured its the battery and he wanted to take it to the dealer to get replaced. But i think its would be a hassle to just go to the dealer for somthing simple that i could do myself.
Question, which battery should i pick up for it? Does it matter?

Check the warranty as the dealer might give you some credit.
If you are on your own or the credit amount is too low to matter, there are pelenty of options. Do get the sealed type. Physical size and terminal types would limit your choices. Fitment can be modified, but then it is not a drop-in.
Search the site for red or yellow type (optima or ultima ... $$$$.... I forgot the exact name). The only problem might be the location of terminals {All posts are not at the same distance from the edge}.
If you can decode the manufacturer's code, try to pick a fresh one.

I've had nothing but excellent luck with Interstate batteries, they cost a little more but all mine have lasted at least 5 years. Many other Toyota owners agree with me (former MR2 owner).
I've had nothing but bad luck with the SEARS Craftsmen ones.
