Gas Milage RX300
#31
Just thought I'd add my 2 pesos in.
I'm buying my parents 2000 RX300 AWD. I just drove the vehicle down from Los Gatos (SF area) to Orange County, CA. The total trip was about 350-400 miles. According to the trip computer (I haven't yet verified its accuracy using notes and fuel receipts) I got 20.9 mpg. Not bad, I think considering the cruise control was set at 82mph on the 5 freeway (70 mph limit) and 73 for the rest. I did notice that my "instant" mileage improved quite a bit when I slowed so my somewhat limited sample set supports the previous posters assumption about slowing down to get better mileage.
I'd guess that if it were possible to actually drive 65mph in S. CA without getting run off the road or shot, I might actually be able to beat the window sticker.
Oh - BTW, the car had avg's 18.7mpg before that when I picked it up from my folks. I reset the computer when I filled it up to start my trip.
