Default Remote Alarm Reset

Hello All,
I have a 2002 Lexus RX300. Battery went out because I left lights on when cleaning the vehicle. When I put it on the charger, batter all charged up the remotes no longer work at all. I had this happen one other time and put the key in the passenger sode door lock and then the remotea began working again.
I have looked repeatedly and tried different online instructions to get the remotes reprogrammed, unsuccessfully.
Can someone possibly shed accurate light on instructions to reprogram the remotes....yes batteries in remotes are new and lights work on the rwmotes.

Thank you

I would disconnect the battery for about 20 mins or so.

Dont go into programming with good intentions when nothing was done to it. The programmed values are not volatile that they would go away due to weak battery.

Hello Salim

Thank you for your reply. I am planning on giving that a try.
How would disconnecting the battery re engage the remotes to work all over again?

I would think completelly clearing everything with the battery out that long would requore completely reprogramming remotes?

Thank you

The only things you would loose are seat settings, radio settings and maybe the pinch protection [windows]. ECU error codes get reset too.

Key recognition, garage door remote, key remote are all kept in non-volatile memory.

By disconnecting the battery, you essentially are doing a hard reset of all the programs that are running. If that does not solve your problem only then explore other options.

Hello Salim,

Disconnected the battery for 20 minutes as you advised and reconnected the battery. The lights on the remotes work, but no luck activating the locks with the remotes.

Any other possibilities you could think of?

Thank you.

Next logical step is to confirm that the inside button (electric and not the ****) works.

If yes, then, try the other key remote. If both key remotes dont operate the lock then you should try the programming.

Confirmed programming steps are listed here in CL.

Check this thread

I think folks have successfully tried 'hyperwish's instructions.

Default Remote Alarm Reset

Hello Salim

Had some things come up and did not get around to trying reprogram instructions.

Strange thing ocurred. I would mannually lock the doors and unlock driver door from inside. Leave it unlocked so I could easily get back in without settimg off the alarm with the key.

This time over several weeks I locked all dors with the electric door lock inside and heard the locks clixk 3x. Thought that was weired. Did not unlock the driver door just closed it.
Mysteriously the remote works again.

This happened once before like this a year ago.

Any idea why this reactivated and the remote works.
A specific procedure to get this to work like this??

Would like to know in the event my remote stops working in the future?

Thank you

There is built in logic that verifies that the door is locked and in case when a door is not shut properly, the system would try again.

If the doors (including the hatch and maybe the hood too) is not fully closed the confirmed locked is not generated. If you can ssure that all the doors are actually closed properly and this multiple locks nd unlock happens then one of the door lock actuator or the connector or wiring has gone bad.
If it happens once in many months, I would ignore it.

In any case, you have confirmed that the 'programming' is working.
