Default 10 codes and a lesson learned

Recently my RX started idling then running badly, dropped to 12 mpg and lost overdrive

I had the codes pulled and got

P0306 cylinder 6 misfire
P300 random misfire
P301 cyl 1 misfire
PO440 evap emission system
PO441 evap emiss system incorrect purge flow
P0446 evap emiss sys incorrect purge flow
And repeats of P0304 440 441 and 446

I was kinda freaking out mostly trying to figure out how to run down the emission problems, but easy things first.
I swapped out coils 6 and 2 cleared the codes and the code moved from 6 to 2.so I ordered 2 Denso coils from Amazon for $53 per shipped.
I replaced coil #2 and cleared the codes , my hands are too big to get to coil 2. I ran some errands maybe 50 miles and no codes
Went to my sons the next night and he replaced coil 2 for me, I've put 205 miles or so on it had the codes checked again and no codes... my check engine light is out

So all of those codes were apparently caused by the front coil being bad and maybe dragging down #2 with it.
I'm glad I got off so easy and mpgs are back to 20 or so with mostly in town driving.

The recommendation is to note the codes, then reset the codes. If and when the CEL comes back read the codes and typically the error will be the root cause.

Wow, all those codes from a bad coil? Glad you got it sorted out.

My experience is that one fault can cause many codes, particularly with misfires such as that caused by a bad coil.
