Our 1999 RX 300
Hello all,
Thought I would introduce myself by telling you about my experience with our 1999 RX 300. Well, technically, it’s my exe’s car as of two months ago, but, we need not be sticklers.
When we bought her in 2014 with 128K, I knew nothing about these cars, nor about the Lexus brand. So, I had a little trepidation, but, the ex really liked the car, so we took her home.
Ok, *that* time he called it 10/10 right. Now that I’m shopping for one of my own, I asked him to total up all of the repair bills since 2014.
—$400 in plugs and coils (isn’t that kind of normal maintenance?).
—$150 for a short in a brake light.
—$100 for a battery. (I’m pretty sure this is basic, normal wear).
That’s it, over five years. This is the car I drove from California to East Tennessee in 2015 during those horrific storms that destroyed entire towns. You really could barely see. But, the trusty workhorse just keeps going, nice and steady.
Sadly, her paint is badly faded from the desert sun. I really hope the ex gives her some pretty new paint. She certainly deserves it.
She’s up to 166K, still running great with just regular maintenance. Best car ever.
