Just wondering.

Driver side cannot open door using inside door handle, but outside door handle works.
Door still locks fine with remote for outer door handle and I can see the lock activates on the inner handle.
That's an issue with the cable right?

I had this same issue on my 00.
Driv door wont open from inside.
Took it apart and it was indeed the cable.
Broke at the latch side.
Had a spare when i bought a whole door lock actuator from ebay.
30 min job

 

Just a straight replacement of cable from end to end right?

There is another cable, but I think it's specifically for the lock portion of the actuator. It has the word remote control on the part.

There are 2 cables.
1 cable is for the inside door latch to open.
The other cable is for the lock/unlock function either wirelessly and manual operation.

 

From my reading over a couple threads and google image.
