Default 2001 RX passenger side mirror won’t adjust

My RX300 passenger side mirror won’t adjust. It seems like a cable has broken or come unattached. The control works and you can hear it moving to the limits but the mirror is not attached.

Anyone know how to repair this? All I can find is for replacing the glass or the body. Thanks.

You can manually push the mirror (glass) and see if it starts moving.

To remove, shove a towel from the outside edge, between the mirror and the shell. Once the towel is stuffed sufficiently in, hold the towel from the top and bottom and give it a tug. It is almost like getting your hand behind the mirror. Just make sure some one can prevent the mirror from falling to ground.

Reassembly is just pushing the mirror in position (snap it in).

Can you hear it clicking when you manually click it around? Work it around gently all angles. The glass is glued to a backing which has a star cross x style clip that press fits into place and surrounding press in plugs for support..

Mine was that way when I bought it, could hear it moving back and forth, but the mirror would just jerk a tiny bit back and forth violently. You could remove the mirror and see if everything's connected (be careful of bugs in there, wasps liked to call that mirror "home" on mine since it was just stationary), or just replace the whole assembly, which is what I did. Just google "RX 300 mirror assembly", they're $60-$100.
