how much more power? Probably trading in would be your cheapest bet.

you can spend $2000 on bolt-ons or $2000 more for a RX330

There’s no love for the 1MZ-FE unfortunately

The engine, transmission, power were all tuned by Lexus back in 1999 to match with the need of target customers. The fuel is metered so the closed loop will put you back to square one by not allowing you to produce more power. SUVs also have lot more losses (specially as the speed increases).

As pointed out, a different engine or better still a vehicle would get you what you desire. We can not even come close to figuring out what you [or any one else] desire. When you are shopping for vehicles, every model and make addresses some features and passes on the other. [Low end torque, high end torque, comfort, capacity etc].

If you stuck with the RX you own then there are few things I can suggest.
1. Understand the rpm at which you get most torque and horsepower. Then try to modulate your engine/gearing to accomplish what you want. Note you will be spending lot more on fuel and potentially reduce the life of the engine and drivetrain. There are silly things like power launch etc.
2. Reduce the weight. This will take way the comfort and luxury. Take the AC out, audio out, seats out, spare tire out, panelling out, carpets out, smaller battery, carry very little weight fuel and like jockey go on a diet. I am not recommending any but theoretically take all the personal safety items out.

At the end you will discover that there will be another vehicle which will outperform your RX. I would say just enjoy your RX the way it is. Lexus is meant to lead in comfort and reliability. Compromises have been done in other areas.

You can leave the wife and kids at home, keep gas at 1/8th tank, lose the spare tire and jack and
that will cut some weight but it will never be a fast car. lol

I thought about doing an intake and exhaust mod but I've decided any small gains in HP with mods will be disappointing anyway
so if I ever get the urge for some G-force I'm gonna have to buy another car for a toy with a V-8.

Possibly look for a 3mz-fe as it'll be a direct bolt in......Which is the same engine as in the rx330's......

3MZ wouldn’t be a bad choice, but he’d need the 5-speed trans to get the two to talk. In that case, may as well go with a 2GR.

Maybe for you it does, but others want more out of their cars. If there are answers and questions being asked, there is no need to kill a relevant thread just because you want to.

The point is, there is always room for improvement and what the factory gave us isn’t always the BEST option.

If there is sufficient interest, members will keep revising this thread. If not then it will move into oblivion.

If a post violates the rules and or breaks the decorum then moderation is needed.

very few options

turbo kit

supercharger

nitrous

first 2 will cost 10 to 20 grand

nitrous can be done for $1000

your best option is going to be nitrous. for this motor, 75 wet shot would be sufficient and safe. A must would be a WOT switch and a window switch. Nitrous is safe with the proper precautions. ALWAYS run a wet shot. I have made cars with 700 wheel horse so I know what I'm talking about lol.

That being said .....the RX is a luxury cruiser SUV.....NOT a race car. Not sure why you need more power. It's not a race machine.

also need to mention ....if looking for "umph" on take off.....you can always change the differential gearing. ie going from a 3.00 to a 3.73. you will gain "take off" accel but will LOSE top end speed. easy trick the mustang camaro guys do on the drag strip. gears about $200, plus install. will be different for AWD models. the higher the number the faster it will take off. I believe stock ratio is 3.00
