Aftermarket stereo? or keeping it original?
I am curious to if others kept their original radio or replaced it for a tablet screen? I haven't, but I replaced the CD player with a GROM Car aftermarket bluetooth which replaces the 6 CD changer, but every now and then, I like to plug the original CD player in for nostalgia purposes. I still use the cassette deck regularly and it still works! I have kept a lot of tapes and discs from my parents and I find some at the thrift store now and then. If you look at the tape deck that this car came with it is very advanced, very Lexus. It can play both sides of the tape (autoreverse), can skip songs by itself, skip blank portions, and Lexus was the last automaker to keep tape decks in their cars. Plus the CD player is pretty advanced for back in the day. Part of me wants keep it all original like it was when I was younger but another part enjoys being able to use maps and Spotify. I am wondering if any other fellow RX owners decided to keep it completely original or have ditched everything for a modern aftermarket infotainment?

I have so far left ours completely stock except I have replaced every speaker except the subwoofer under the seat (that still works fine).
The system is so integrated with the stock amp, etc., that in my opinion it would be a headache to really do anything with it properly and have it all working correctly. Also, aftermarket setups are usually kinda ugly compared to the nice original factory style.
The only exception is that huge screen setup, that is very cool, if and only if you take your time and do it right and ensure everything is fully functional. I could see a project like that being worthwhile, but otherwise I'd leave it all alone, and mount your smartphone to your dash and use a bluetooth kit of some kind (Grom, for example)
Personally I opted for an iPod integration kit + 30-pin iPod to Bluetooth adapter, this gets the job done and allows you to use your previous and next track buttons to skip tracks, directly from your radio, which is nice.
