Antenna Motor tube blocked?
Hey all - replacing a broken antenna. Everything went well, took the motor apart and removed the broken plastic toothed cable remains. I can feed the new one if I go from the motor side, but reinstalling, I cannot feed the new cable into the motor from above. Is there something in the tube that should be there, but is possibly broken or jammed to prevent the new cable from entering the motor itself? thanks

Start by laying the new and the old side by side and make sure the old one matches in length of the plastic, [add all the broken pieces of the old]. This will tell you if there is a broken piece left in the tube or not.
You can run a piece of hose/tubing down the tube to make sure the passage is clear.

Salim - there was no other part of the cable, just the part inside the motor housing I cleared out. Keith - yes, you would think so, but no, I CANNOT feed the cable down from the top. But from the motor side, I can. So I am trying to determine why? There's nothing in the mast itself as you can see in the photo. The mast isn't damaged. So I am looking for what could possibly be a one-way block? thanks

Okay - solved. As a followup, there is a plastic insert at the bottom of the tube, which changes the inside diameter to a smaller hole. The smart design would have been funnel-shaped on the inside, so the new cable automatically threads into the smaller opening. Nope. It's flat, so my cable when inserted was constantly hitting the flat area around the center hole. It took quite a number of tries to get it at just the right angle to thread that smaller opening.
