alternator issue now wont fire
so my 01 rx300 had a battery light at low speed.
i put brushes in alternator. no hange.
i test drove it a mile and parked it.
next day a drove it a block and engine light came on. i figured mass air flow with low voltage.
drove home and parked.
next morning i wanted to check connections and didnt pull codes i forgot.
so i cleaned alternator plug it was full of white stuff. i didnt clean real hard but after that it cranks hard and fast no fire.
its not timing belts new and was running fine.
im wondering if alternator shorted something or if i screwed up plug. any ideas? also there is wiring that goes to sensor on rt front of block. its not ran right and was wondering where it clips in. what is that sending unit ac maybe. idk if moving that wire could cause this

Rt/Left don't make much sense unless you state how you are looking. Preferred way to describe would be radiator side, firewall side passenger side driver side [for US market].
I would start by hooking up all unconnected sensor wires and hoses.
Look at the natural [history] based position of the wire and then also extend and rotate to determine reach. Then look for unconnected receptacle.
I suspect timing related connection is missing that is causing no or bad timing.

in automotive world rt is passenger side always from inside of car, at least in auto body in us. there is a sender right under alternator possibly on ac compressor.
everything is hooked up. is there timing wiring under alternator or a plug in that area? do any wires on alternator power ignition. if when i cleaned the terminals or possibly pulled a wire? the only thing i did was clean the plug. it ran when i parked it. i screwed up not pulling code. it just cranks. wasnt sure if alternator spiked or shorted? but it ran home. no codes

Body is easy, but the engine sits rotated in RX, so to make it easy I always suggest use terms as radiator, firewall, pass side wheel and driver side wheel ... then there is no confusion.
You can always look at the codes [pending are real time ... so couple of long cranks will set them].
Alternator is almost parallel circuit to the battery. Worst case is it can drain out the battery and once the voltage drops below a certain level all electronics shut off.
I would scan things wires and hoses to see if something is pinched or disconnected.

Look for a lead connector coming out of timing belt cover. I suspected that was disconnected.

From what members say the two crank sensor wires can get pulled out of the sensor harness plug if not carefull when replacing the alternator.
If both wires got pulled out you can try installing them one way and if that doesn't work you can try the other way.
If wires are reversed car will not start.

im heading out in a bit to see. before i got this car some shady mechanic worked on it.
i normally do all my stuff but had a good friends shop do heads and valve cover stuff. all new belt and stuff. hoping plug is missing lock tab and it came off. if i pulled wires it wouldnt have started i think its a loose plug.
just for the record i did bodywork and painting 40 years. so i wasnt ruff.
im just happy i got a lead on this. im moving slow been off since December 3 surgeries. im going to pull alternator and figure it out. picts and solutions as soon as i find it.
thanks. hope in a few hours happy news. 01 rx300 200506 miles. light came on at 200500
