Does anyone know if a 2000 Avalon trans will work in a 01 lexus rx300

They both share the same engine, so theoretically it should work. Just keep in mind the avalon trans is front wheel drive only, so if your rx is awd you're outta luck

 

The devil is in the details. Casing has support holes for particular vehicle. Even if the transmission mates and every thing hangs properly, the electronics may behave differently.

My daughter has a 01 lexus rx300 that the trans does not go into reverse and now is slipping in all other gears i changed the all the sensors in the trans and it worked for about a month and started doing the same thing so i found a 2000 Toyota avalon with the same motor and trans for pretty cheap just need to know if it will fit

RX has the U140F Avalon A541E they are not compatible.

 

Hi friends, even if the engine would "fit" my biggest worry about swapping between different models is whether everything will bolt up properly or add a nightmare of extra work.

If you fast forward to minute marker 16:00 in video below you can see how he figures out his power steering pump holes are not right and he has to drill and tap holes in the block. Fun!!!

Even still tho, if they were same engine I'd still caution swapping from different models unless someone you know or trust has done it and can confirm- plz see previous post for explanation.
