The speed sensors are the trojan horse. Just because hubby is not familiar, you are making this as a must fix for the problem. You can disconnect the sensors and the RX should be drivable at least the 1st and reverse.

There are no sediments in the fluid, meaning the bands still have the needed friction.
Loud bang can only be associated with a physical braking of metal.
No debris means the planetary gears are not disintegrated [break can happen].

I think the diagnosis needs to be done by some one who lays his hands on the transmission and us enthusiasts can not solve it by speculation.

Default It's us again/ need help plz / 01 Lexus rx300 that GF ave p0500 code

Ok we are ignoring the p0500 code. We had already changed the fluid and filter on tranny. Now we have removed the 17 or so bolts and are trying to test the shift selinoids with a multimeter? We get a reading off of two but can't seem to get reading off other two? First . Can that b right? We have no shavings or anything when changed fluid also had no codes related to tranny.we have nothing broken n it looks clean n all in there. when testing the selinoids with multimeter should they all read 12-28 ohms? We are not tranny people but still thinking something stupid right here. We started the car with this off and put into park and there are no grinding sounds at all so the issue is in our face but dunno how to find out what it is. So if anyone knows how to check all selinoids or has any ideas can u plz let us know. Over 100 degrees today n hubby trying really hard despite his illnesses. Thank you appreciated!

Default Still us. Tranny issues?

Ok we pulled the valve body and we wanted to check selinoids. We started the car with valve body off and put into gears. No grinding noise.
so is it still the transmission? We tried checking the selinoids with multimeter dunno it was doing it correctly. I really need some help as we can't afford to pay for a new tranny. If the car didn't make the noise with the valve body off then wouldn't the problem llye somewhere in there or somewhere else? It all looks good n clean in the transmission! We are not stupid people n give my husband a 60,70 or even an 80's vehicle n he can figure out the problem NO PROBLEM! BUT WE ARE AT A LOSS WITH THIS LEXUS! We feel that if was a shift selinoids it would have thrown a code?
We put it all back together and guess what? Same issue! Won't move and getting grinding noises especially when put into park. Does ANYONE ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THIS COULD BE? was thinking stuk selinoid? Is there a way to check them? Husband is I'll n we need this car fixed. We gotta do it ourselves as got no medical insurance and can't afford to do anything else.
Ok if ya have an idea on how to figure out what's wrong with it. ? We really need some help. Thanks
