Default Transmission and Steering fluid change advice

Greetings, My 1999 RX300 is about to pass 100,000 miles mark. I'm thinking of replacing its transmission and steering fluid for the first time and have a few questions.
1- Is this something I can undertake with a fluid/oil extractor pump or is it something best left to a pro shop?
2- What would be the right extractor for this application? A simple multi-use transfer pump, a fluid/oil extractor a fancy fluid extractor?
3- What is the best fluid to use for this purpose, Toyota Dexron III or one of the newer fluids?
Currently there is no problem with either. Steering seems a bit heavy.
Thank you in anticipation of great advice.

Please checkout the sticky threads and DIYs.

Transmission -> drain and fill. If you like more challenge, do repeated drain and fills every 50 miles of driving -> repeat at least 5 times.
Steering pump -> suction pump to pull out as much and fill. Repeat 3 times with 50 miles of driving [as many turns as possible].

For fluids, stick with what Lexus recommend.
