Clock Spring Question / Steering Wheel Controls
I have the base non-nav, or factory Bluetooth setup in my RX. I upgraded the factory head unit to a newer touchscreen one that supports Android Auto/backup camera/USB/etc. I also installed the interface that retains my steering wheel controls and they work great. My steering wheel only has the audio controls on the left side. The ride side is blank. Can I swap out the steering wheel with a model that has the phone controls with my current clock spring? It would be nice to have the controls to answer calls using the physical buttons on the steering wheel.

Yes, you could! The clcokspring is the same for all 04-09 RXs, and they all have the wires running to each pin already. Check out my heated steering post for more info and a pinout of the clockspring.

You can grab just those side pieces and associated wiring at the junkyard without having to get the whole steering wheel. They are transferable to any 2nd gen RX wheel. The connector is still there on my car even though my steering wheel was a complete base wheel

I was looking at something like this on eBay. I haven’t seen many that sell just the right side/phone controls by itself yet.
