Hi I have a water leak to the bottom of the trunk and into the battery due to the back door hatch. The Lexus pdf suggested a spot welding and using a seam sealer to seal this door hatch. Can this be something I can repair at home or is it recommended that I take it to the dealer or a body shop? I don't have a welder, but I can go buy a seam sealer.
Unless the hatch is rusted out, brush on seam sealer will do the job not hard to apply.
Thanks for the reply. So I need to unscrew the 2 screws from that door hatch and then brush the seam sealer onto the car frame then re-screw the 2 screws?
Basically, but try and dig out any old seam sealer then brush on the new stuff. Use at least 2 coats then wait a few hours before putting the bolts back.
hmmm... is there a visible gap there? Must be a ton of water through that area if the battery is getting wet..
As @Felix suggested, are you sure it's not the sunroof drains or the perhaps the rubber seal around the top of the trunk area
