Hey everyone! Looking for help with bearing diagnoses. I've owned this thing for a few years now- bought used with around 125,000 miles. In the beginning I had to replace a few things in the front suspension due to salt and corrosion - control arms, bearings, ball joints, tie rods... These parts were Toyota parts excepting the bearings. Since then it always rides really smooth and doesn't pull in any direction, until after about 5,000 miles I get bearing failure- at first I thought it was because I bought aftermarket bearings- which still were under warranty, so for second round I bought toyota/lexus- then another 3000 miles it failed again... other side, then again after another 3,000. After the third failure I have had mechanics replace bearings and dealership do alignment. I'm now on my 6th bearing after about 30,000 miles of driving since ownership... Still experiencing failures - only in bearings - other parts seem fine and front tires are not wearing after at least 10,000 miles, and tires before that were cheapos that came with car and they rode for a long while with no excessive /unbalanced wear. When bearing is working well the car rides dreamy smooth and quiet, no directional lean and great gas mileage.
Ive been reading about static electricity (?!?!?) buildup that settles in bearings and causes blown seals/ failed bearings... Could be it and I'm curious if anyone knows more. My grounding wires appear to be good but I'm willing to try anything.
Also bumpy roads, salt etc- these things are present in my life but not overly frequent. Looking for ANY answers, love the car otherwise.
