Pick my oil, and I will run it.

- It can go 3x oil changes and I’ve used it like that several times (e.g., 20k+ total miles between filter changes). I have cut two open after that to check, and they were a-ok after that mileage.
- Some cheaper filters will fail with the anti-drain back valve and cause dry starts. This filter does not, ever.
- The stock size is slightly shorter, the 3614. I use the 3600 as it allows my to get a little more oil in and also is easier to install/remove given the awkward position of the filter on this engine.
We are kind of lucky Toyota uses US standard sizing on it’s oil filters (they are US size, not metric), so they overlap with lots of US applications and are cheaper because of that. A corresponding, BARE cartridge filter like this for my Volvos is almost $20. So it’s really a bargain at $9 and able to go 3 (long) oil changes.
For reference, this is the spec’d filter for the mz-fe engine, the Fram 3614. No price difference and the same specs - base size, by-pass opening pressure, etc. The 3600 just gives more filtering area/holding, oil capacity, and easier installation so is win/win to use instead:

I use the Fram XG3600 on the mz-fe engine, and very happy about it. $9 at Walmart or off Amazon. It is a very tough, robust filter and with excellent filtration specs (better than Wix XP, K&N, or Mobil 1) and holding capacity. Top quality filter.

Another friend in here, @Felix recommended Wix and those are good too from what I hear.
I will buy the 3600 at Walmart and hopefully it fits.
Ok, so I thought I was being smart and saving money buying "genuine Toyota" filters in ebay in the past.
Only $20 for a 5 pack, cheap.
But now I hear they're cloning filters and I don't feel good about that.
Is it really a Toyota filter or some -who knows what- filter.
The idea never crossed my mind to pay extra for a top quality oil filter and get two oil changes out of it, I like it.

Update, 12-24-2024.
Well, in a hurry I grabbed a jug of Mobil 1 Synthetic, High Mileage formula from Walmart.
They NEVER have it in stock and are almost always out of everything in a 5w-30.
I went to local auto part store for a high end Fram or Wix filter and they were wanting $16 for the cheap ones.
They also wanted $11 for their house brand generic filters, yeah... NO.... Lol
So I went to AutoZone and they were out of most of the filters for our RX 330 but they did have this STP brand for $5+, so I said hell yeah.
STP has been around a long time.
Have no idea if they still make good stuff anymore but price was reasonable.
