Rattling Dash at Idle and While Braking? Try this!
If you're having a rattle from what seems to be coming from behind your gauge cluster, try this first! I removed my cluster and drove the car and sound deadened to no avail until I did this. I got the idea from a TSB (L-SB-0074-09) I saw when browsing TIS
You'll need a metal brake booster vacuum valve 44730-14050 but I am sure 44730-28010 from my 2002 Highlander would work too as it's the same shape. Basically it's the metal valve from the Bosch brake boosters and these are much better built regardless. You can change vacuum booster grommet 90480-24439 as this is indicated to be a non-reusable part. After putting this new valve in, my issues are gone! Car is super silent as it should be.
Make sure to use silicone before putting it in to make it a lot easier!
