Has anyone tried making a case for getting the October Navigation DVD update under warranty?
Here are two bugs I've noticed:
- When the map is following the car's position, the point of the red arrow isn't always on the road. If the line for the road is drawn on the screen vertically (either the direction you're heading, or going north or south in fixed-north mode), then the arrow tip is always positioned to the left of the road. If the road goes horizontally (east-west), then the arrow is right on the road. Interestingly, there's an example screen shot in the manual that depicts this "feature", so it's been in the system a long time.
- The map likes identifying county routes by number, just as it does interstates, U.S. routes, and state routes. The version of nav in the 330 uses a white square box with the name of the state at the top as the route icon. That would be neat, except for the fact that even county routes say "Illinois" at the top. So, when the real Illinois route 38 meets county route 38, you can't tell the difference on the map! (The stored names of the routes, "IL-38" vs. "CR-38", are correct.) To fix the bug, county routes need a different icon from state routes.
Does the October DVD have these same issues? If not, I say we get it for free!
