Default 04 RX330 cruise control won't turn on

RX330 cruise control will not turn on. Cruise light does not light up, even at start. ECU fuses are fine, replaced CC switch at the steering wheel (did not fix), tried different positions of the steering wheel (suspecting failing clockspring) which did not work.

The CC system seems dead -- is there a hardware module somewhere in the RX330 that I can replace?

If same as RX350, then the ECU handles it, no extra module. Interesting that troubleshooting in SM suggests that it could still be working without the cruise light on. May need techstream to pull some Toyota specific codes (2008 RX350):

I went ahead and connected a NT530 reader for Toyota/Lexus and did a diag with the cruise control module. No errors... When I did the test on the CC On/Off main switch, it stayed in the OFF mode the whole time. So the CC switch is clearly not communicating with the system. As noted, replacing the CC switch did not help and there appears to be no damage with the wiring at the steering wheel.

Suspecting the clockspring again -- may try to replace the clockspring as a test (although no other symptoms of a failing clockspring) -- replacement is not too difficult.

(Purchased this 04 RX330 used with 187K)

Fixed! It was the clockspring -- replacing the clockspring was straightforward (be sure to mark the center stud and steering wheel flange before you pull the wheel) and the cruise control works once again! Was a bit confused since no other symptoms showed up (horn, audio buttons worked fine).

Interesting. My 05 330 is intermittent with the cruise not working.
