Hey guys, 2007 RX2 with 94,000 needs struts. I'm look at Detroit Axel on eBay. I am going to do the work myself and I don't want to use That spring compressor.

What are you running?

Detroit Axle is the LAST brand I would use. They re-package cheap Chinese stuff for more palatable Consumption. They are junk.

KYB is the only decent option; I’ve spent many years as a mod at TN and seen it all. Borrow two compressor kits, use three of the four arms and it’s totally safe. Don’t put crap parts in which only save you $20, $60 bucks over-all.

KYB's are the only struts to go with......Use the oem springs....If you don't/can't swap the new struts, have a shop do it for you.

Talking

I did a search and all the forums came up. Five minutes after I posted I found the other post other post for struts LOL

So Detroit Axel is out. I have seen the KYB struts come up in my search. I will give them a better look.

I might have to use my local shop Because I don't want to work the spring compressor.

Thanks Guys.

Update: So, I brought the KYBs from Rock auto and had my go to shop install them.

I CAN NOT tell you how better it drives. Steering, Braking...... I was up to 60 mph and did not know it.

It's like I am driving a different car.

If you are on the fence about buying struts, go with the KYBs.

What did the shop charge you to replace them? Just bought all four from RockAuto and going to have them done as well.

Thanks!

I have a 2009 and looking into doing the same. I am guessing the parts are the same for 07 and 09.

do you mind providing the part numbers?

thanks

I just bought these - I am assuming they are correct. They don't include new springs, expecting to use the OEM ones as many people recommend.

Very likely you'll need new bellows and shock mounts as well.

Labor should be @ 2-3 hours so expect to pay $250-325 however many shops will push for them ordering the parts (they get wholesale pricing you get above retail pricing charged by them) and they'll make money on the very same order you could make yourself.

Thanks. I noticed you have the rears AWD listed. Mine is not AWD, so not sure it would be different for mine.

FWD rear struts won’t fit the AWD rear knuckles due to spacing differences. 08-09 has a larger strut mount hole for more camber adjustment for a larger knuckle hole. This post I made breaks down the differences (Has lots of good info too like torque specs etc)

To add to Matt's excellent input if you go to Rockauto they have what you need clearly shown, if you doubt what you're about to order simply take that KYB part number and Google it to assure yourself you're ordering the proper rear set.
