Default Buy a 2008 RX400h?

I'm considering the purchase of a used 2008 RX400h, and a bit nervous because I've never owned a hybrid. Understand some basics about gas vehicles, but am a bit nervous and would appreciate thoughts. The vehicle has 169k miles on it, one owner, and super condition inside and out.. Test drive went well, but the mileage indicator said it was max 20.8 mpg. I understand that perhaps sitting in the lot could affect that, but maybe the lower efficiency indicates that the hybrid battery might be reaching the end of it's useful life. I'm retired and can't afford a $3,000+ replacement battery.

I'll be paying $7,500. Would you buy this? Are there any other issue I should look out for?

Thanks for any and all responses!

I would just get a gas 07-09 350 and enjoy the simplicity and reliability over the hybrid. The hybrid will never pay itself back in gas savings at this point. Battery or ABS regen brake module could go out and be huge $$$ to replace.
