on my 2007 rx 350 when i start to drive i get a whining noise that appears to be coming from the power steering pump.. the noise goes away when i turn the wheel to the right. or left. So as long as i keep making circles here in my driveway, the noise is gone.. Anyone have any ideas about this gremlin?

I'd try flushing the PS system. You'll need 1L of Dexron VI tranny fluid. There's a hose clamp connection for the PS line near the pass side subframe that can be pulled to easily push all the fluid out w/ the car in the air and steering left & right with engine off. You'd be surprised how much junk will come out if the fluid is original. That got rid of the whining noise on mine.
