Default RX 400h Motor Mount Kit [2007]

Hello all, I sure am glad I found you!

I am looking for advice on motor mounts for a 2007 RX400h. I was told that none of the after market ones fit, and that I should cough up the money for OEM. I researched the price difference and ended up choking, not coughing! So I thought I would do some research and see if I could find engine mounts that are excellent quality and fit. A kit would be preferable, and I have located a couple, but I would really appreciate feedback from others that have been down this road.

I also need control arms/bearings strut mount, a cvs axle, and struts all way around. Are the online parts sites any good? I've honestly never bought car parts online!

Is there a store that folks prefer? Napa, Parks Geek, Rockauto, etc?

Thank you all so much!

What are you experiencing that you think you need to replace motor mounts? In my experience with Hondas/Acuras, I would always stick with OEM no matter the cost for mounts. I bought supposedly good brands from rockauto - beck arnley and anchor mounts, and my car felt so stiff i couldn't stand it. I ended up doing the job again with all oem parts. I imagine toyota/lexus mounts would be the same way. I've never herad of anyone complaining about mounts on this car so unless you were in an accident or there are some nasty vibrations or something, maybe something else is wrong with the vehicle?

I would go with used OEM before new aftermarket engine mounts

Rockauto is what most of us use here, they seem to be the most reliable and have the best prices. I've used exclusively Delphi parts on mine with no issue or China-made white-box junk. The KYB struts are closest resemblance to OEM on these cars. Have had too many crappy experiences with Moog as the lower control arms I installed a year or so back are already cracking badly. Dorman is surprisingly not as bad as people say, but they're not the greatest either and aren't the cheapest anymore. Avoid Trakmotiv crappy axles as one popped out on the back of my Highlander due to the snapring not holding it properly. The GSP ones I swapped to later were a perfect fit although have surface rust issues. I would do a search on these topics to find some more input from people too.

I made this suspension guide for 2001-2007 Highlanders, but it applies to the 2004-2009 RX as well:

I would check out what you have before concerning yourself with purchasing anything else.

Disconnect the upper motor mount) dogbone (easily done with a single bolt). Start the car, put it into drive with the parking brake and brakes engaged, now slightly rev the motor up and down viewing the engine itself... if it shakes violently your mounts are toast, if it moves only slightly you're fine. Takes a couple minutes and is free. DO NOT STAND IN FRONT OF CAR WHILE DOING THIS stand to the side

I've taken it to a couple of mechanics and been told the motor mounts (lower front and rear), lower control arms and ball joints, upper motor mount (dog bone), and Strut mount is bad. 2007 just under 145k miles. The symptom is a clunking noise when I put it in gear and roll forward then press breaks. This can be replicated at will in both forward and reverse direction. So it is especially noticeable when maneuvering into a parking space. I also have a slight shimmy at about 80mph in the drivers wheel. My tires that I just replaced were toasted on the inside (facing the car)... I was shocked to actually see some separation of the rubber from the underlying radial when one of the tires came off. I knew they old but the part of the tread that I was keeping an eye on indicated to me that they were still serviceable.

I bought the RX 400h about a year and a half ago with 122k and it now has 143k. It was a 2 owner car and it appears to me as though it did not have good maintenance.

I appreciate all your advice and "lived lessons" I went to a couple of sites like lexusparts.com and was shocked to see mounts at $200/ea!
