So far my favorite oil filter wrench was dirt cheap and I think I got it at Walmart.

It's nothing fancy but grabs the oil filter tight and doesn't let go.
Yeah, it dents the filter badly sometimes when removing but works well.

my hand, I do all my oil changes and never torque it down so hard as to need a wrench. I have several colected over the years even one above for my ladies Prius but my cars are ahnd-tight an able to hand loosen

Those days are over for me.

Due to an injury on my elbows and wrists I've lost about half my grip I once had, plus on top of that Im getting older. Lol

Even when I spin the filter on hand tight, I can't remove without a wrench.

Oh, by the way, never noticed this before but my wrench says "Fram" on the handle.

I use the Channellock 209s on my Highlander. Really gets up in there and grips hard to get that filter off. Has been working great for 15 years




On my RX w/ the 2GR, I use the TechPro OS-011-1, I like the slightly oversized 64.45mm "plastic" housing version vs. the blue 64.2mm version, as this one never has issues getting stuck on and having to get punched off

Took me 2 hours to get the dang filter off last time. Fram synthetic one. Pretty sure it was hand tightened by someone else last time but I felt defeated after 2 trips to autozone and using 5+ different type of filter wrenches.

Almost drove to the Tesla dealer to trade in. Ha

Twice I've had to use a screwdriver and drive it through oil filters to remove them because other mechanics decided to wrench them down HARD another reason I do all my own work now

I had to do that once. This time I was scared because I read an incident online that someone poked through the threaded pipe in the middle.

It's always harder coming off than spinning it on for some reason.

And, if the last guy slammed it on hard like a monkey it will require mangling the oil filter to get it back off. Lol

Over 310,000 miles, have used a few ... really like this one ... fits Fram, OEM, Bosch, Purolator, etc.
I reach in from the top and remove/replace.

which oil filter socket-style one is the best for OEM filters?
Can someone link it or give me a part number?
I'm not going to risk it anymore. OEM with perfect filter remover (OEM?) for me. Lost to much time of my life on this.

I found a gem of a tool recently thanks to the 4Runner guys. This thing perfectly fits D series oil filters for the RX330/400h (D1 and D3). It's not some cheap China tool. Very heavy-duty and made of Cr-V too!
