Default Upper window trim restoration

What have people done to fix the upper window trim? I tried searching but most things pull up for the window belt. Has anyone removed it in bad condition like this? Is it terrible or can some chemicals and rubber eraser tool get it off? I've got one of the b-pillar covers off, so I know the tape goes behind there, just trying to figure out how far I want to take this. Thanks in advance for any tips.

Mine looked just like yours. I hit them with steel wool to smooth out and give primer something to bite on, masked it off, shot it with primer then gloss black rattle can spray paint. Doesn't look perfect but much better that it did

If I had talents to apply vinyl wrap, I would do that. Seems to be the cheapest and cleanest option

+1 I would attempt to vinyl wrap before spray painting because even if you don't do a perfect job it will look okay. and it's cheap and low risk to attempt. It's something that's on my long list of things to attempt as well

I think I'll try the vinyl wrap first before painting since this is an easy enough area to attempt without being great at wrapping. Thank you

I remember cars like Mini Cooper had the same issue, and vendors used to sell exact fit vinyl stickers.
That's what I would need.

With a straight vinyl tape, I dunno how I would work around the curves. ha.
