Default stuck caliper pin + worn pad = cause abs to kick in?

Hello everyone, i had posted earlier about my abs kicking in (at slow speed) when coming to a slow stop. It's been doing this for quite a few months, but doesn't do it all the time and doesn't do it at highway or more "aggressive" stopping (thank god)!
i cleaned out the front abs sensors at they had some dirt/metal fragments in them. for the life of me, i couldn't get the rear off...it's like they are FUSED in there now. I also cracked the bleeders open and bled the system.
I had another thought....last week, i was looking at my calipers and slide pins. When i got to the front drivers side, the lower slide pin was completely seized inside the bracket! i had to remove the bracket, torch it up, put it in a vice and hammer the crap out of it! the pin came out eventually.
i actually got new pins for that bracket and are now moving well. I did notice, however that one of the pads was nicely "shaved" on half of it (basically pad is worn on a slant). the other half of that pad still seemed okay.
I figured that the slider pin had gotten stuck before last winter (we have lots of snow and salted roads here)!
could this pad wear, possible cause the abs to kick in at the slower speeds?
as you may tell, i'm really trying to avoid it being the speed sensor rings in the driveshaft!
thanks
fab

It's 100% the tone ring on the axle. It's possible to replace it w/ the Dorman part for 01-03 Highlander. It should work on the RX too as they share the same axle design and ABS sensors despite the different part numbers. You'll need a more powerful scan tool to get some live data from the sensors in order to find out which one is bad.

Awesome job @MattRX .

I hope this never happens to my car.
Is this a rust issue or a "just a matter of time" issue?

Mine got deformed somehow but was rust free. I'm not sure how it happened but something might have got jammed in there from the road somehow as the sensor itself was mangled too.

It didn't, it just set the ABS off when coming to a stop - exact same symptoms as yours. In fear of wearing out the ABS pump, I pulled the fuse and drove without ABS for a few years until I found out how to fix it

Mattrx...so what was the fix? Was it just changing your slider pin?
did it clear out when you changed the caliper slide pin? I do know that it wasn't doing this pulsation last year when i had changed out the rotors and pads and regreased all the slider pins. All was running normally.

I had to change the ABS tone ring. The only way to know without guessing is getting live data from the ABS system like I mentioned
