peaceful97 - I am hearing the same thing from other people. The dealership wants to have the error code. I was going to wait to give them a call when it gets closer to my 5000 mi scheduled service date. I will let you know what happens. I do plan on making a call to complain to Lexus customer service.

I'm wondering if that infamous "don't buy the first model-year" quote is true??

I'd have trouble having the service guys see the problem, 'cause it always happens when I'm out doing errands and the trouble seems to fix itself after I start the car.

vigad: Thanks for that info; I'll be sure to pursue it if it happens again.

It's not a quote attributable to any single individual but certainly was well known advice to those of us who grew up in the '60s; American mfgrs had a long history of bringing cars to market and allowing the consumer to work out the bugs in the first year or two of production. In fairness, this was the case even before then (since the advice was heard frequently when I was VERY young) and likely has as much to do with poorer machine tolerances and (definitely) less durability testing which was also the standard for the time. Evidence seems to point to the domestic guys still having trouble doing all the homework first......

When I consider some of the first year kludges from my early driving days, though, I find it difficult to gripe too much about the rear power door (which won't stop me from doing so when the RX goes in for its 5k service).

Ditto here....my PowerDoor ECU is on back-order. It'll probably take 2-3 weeks.

In my case, a call to the 1-800 Lexus customer phone number seemed to get things moving again.

On an unrelated side-note, I had the TSB Transmission cooler line fix installed. Bingo! Transmission Clunk is totally gone.

If I can get the random PowerDoor problem fixed, then my issues will be reduced to a single complaint....the noisy idle ticking sound from the fuel injectors in cold weather. Keep those TSB's coming Lexus. If they can come through for me on this last one, then I can lay claim to owning a PERFECT RX330.

When I make my appt for the rear-door ECU, I'm going to have that done also. While waiting for my SUV today @ the dealership, my HS classmate who works in the parts dept was telling me about that same exact TSB.

Anyone got the TSB# on that ECU? Seems like every time I raise an issue with my Lexus dealership I get the same blank stare and the same "That's a known issue and there is no fix" response. I get the feeling that I'm talking to a robot.

Very good. When it comes to warranty repairs, keep hassle them until they get things done. Remember, squeaky wheel gets the oil.

This is good news for me. Once you get all your things taken care of I can go in to have mine done Now the dealer can't claim they never heard of these problems

According to the TSIB, this is how you initialize the back door:

1. Unlock the back door, with either the lock button or the key remote control.
2. Make sure that the car is off - ignition in the "off" position.
3. Make sure the power door enable switch (inside the frame of the glovebox) is on.
4. Manually open the door fully, and then close it fully.
5. Open the back door with the key remote or with the "power door" button on the dash.
6. Close the back door with the key remote or with the button on the door itself.
7. The door should now be initialized, and the jam protection feature should be enabled.

WORKED FOR ME! Thanks. I believe it happened because I have two key fobs (a old worn one and a nice clean new one) that I sometimes alternate from day to day. Either way this fix worked for me! Thanks!
