I just left my Lexus dealer for my 20,000 service. Finally the service mgr acknowledged my transmission woes. See my previous post. He said Lexus is aware of the concern "Nation wide". They changed? the tranny for 2005!!! They are also postponing the Hybrid for 6 months due to the concerns of the 2004 RX transmission though we know that's a totally different application. The kicker is though it's still an open case, Lexus at this time does not have a fix. So 20,000 miles later I have a 40,0000 SUV that has a transmission of a Yugo. No offense to the Yugo. I was told how frustrated they are with this. I believe my frustration is greater, seeing how I make the payments and drive this car daily. Also not much they can do right now until Lexus makes a move. AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH. Not Happy in the Twin Cities.

Does anyone know if automatic transmission treatment additives like Slick50 helps prevent future tranny problems on the RX300? I just purchased a used 1999 Rx300 with 70K miles and was not aware of all these reported tranny problems. I'm very concerned? Any preventive maintenance suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

I don't think the RX300 is having the problems. It's the learning transmissions in the RX330. MIne has it and they reset the brain on it, but that didn't help. I'm thinking of switching to BMW and I have a deposit down on a new RX400h, but I don't want it if the tranny is like the RX330.
I switched to Lexus because I heard they were problem free and very reliable. Although I do like the car, I am not impressed with either the tranny or the performance. It has a serious lag when getting on it in low RPM situations. It doesn't even start running well until about 4500 RPM.

Hi,
I am having problem with my 2000 RX300, 145K, yesterday just dead, I leave it in the dealership, they told me 6000 in order to replace with a new transmission. I check with Lexus Canada, they said I am out of warranty, nothing they can do to help. Do you have any avenue or past history problems with RX300, that I can take up with Lexus.
Thanks

Check out this site www.nhtsa.com for info and complaints on the rx330 as well as the es330 they have the same engine so if the problem is changed with the 05 es330 then I would assume that the rx330 would be the same.
