Default Winshield crack

Took a hit froma pebble early Saturday morning. Driving back home Saturday afternoon the little crack fron the pebble grew into a crack across the driver side of the winshield.

has anyone had a factory Lexus winshield replacement done? I'd like to get the factory glass and ensure that the auto sensors work properly.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

No one has a cracked windshield on a 2004 RX330?

Elite auto glass can do it for about $415. The lexus glass is about $900 and $75 for molding and $80 for the install by Elite auto glass.

I just want to hear from some folks that have had it replaced. Has anyone cracked a replacement winshield?

Thanks

I had a similar incident happen to my RX 300 just before I traded it. An independent glass shop (used by my Lexus dealer) swore the replacement was identical except for the brand name etched into the glass. I took my chances, but he did a beautiful job, even reusing all the original molding. The new glass was about $400 and he saved me some additional $ by reusing the old molding too. Because the 330's windshield is similar, I'd expect the results to be the same. If you're concened, look at other jobs your shop has done and get a look at your new glass before it is installed.

I haven't done a windshield replacement, but did take a hit last Wednesday morning that I had "repaired" Friday afternoon for $55. Luckily, it was out of the line of sight, by the lower A-pillar.

Quick action on your part probably saved you a windshield. I've had two experts tell me that, particularly with big windshields like the RX's, it's important to get even the small chips repaired immediately. Aerodynamic pressure flexes the w/s very slightly at freeway speed, propagating a crack very quickly. Nice catch!
