Lightbulb Snow go . . .

The reason **excuse** I always got for GM putting those skinny tires on their K20 (3/4 ton, 4WD) Suburbans was that they were equipped for snow country where the high load per sq inch resulted in the tire pressing through the surface powder to the firmer snow beneath. Yeah. I question that one too!

I'll take an unscientific stab. When you have the larger surface area of a wider tire, there is a higher tendency to adhere to the surface on which it rides. So on dry pavement, grip is tremendous. On wet or snowy conditions, it again is more likely to adhere to the surface present, ie water (hydroplaning) or snow. A narrower tire will have more of a tendency to cut/plow through it rather than ride up on it. The weight of the vehicle is also concentrated onto a smaller surface area with narrower tires which also enhances the plow effect. I believe that is reasonably (though not necessarily absolutely) correct.

Looking back at my '00 RX300 window sticker, I noticed that "limited slip differential" was
an added option. I don't see it on my RX330. Am I correcct in assuming that the included VSC/Trac
control is the "improved" replacement ?
