Question shift Lock Button

Need help
Cannot find in manual what is the shift lock switch button is for.
I'm either going blind or have not looked hard enough.
Very happy boy picked up rx 330 last tuesday 31/8/04 what a vehicle this is even the wife is happy.
Lexus have proven they are up there with BMW and Mercedes now.

The button is used to bypass the U.S. mandated shift lock. In the U.S., all cars must be designed so that you cannot shift out of Park unless the key is in ignition and foot on the brake.

Commonly used by tow truck drivers, either authorized by police, repo men, or thieves.
